Suspend UK Trade Deals with Nations that hunt dolphins or whales

Blue Seas Protection wants the Government to send a clear message to all countries that the UK will not tolerate the hunting of dolphins and whales!

  • Suspend trade deals with countries that hunt dolphins or whales.

  • Stop seeking trade deals with countries that hunt dolphins or whales.

In 1982 the International Whaling Commission decided that there should be a pause in commercial whaling, and this remains in place today.

Despite this, Endangered whales and dolphins are being unjustly targeted, hunted and killed.  Whale meat contains high levels of toxins and chemicals that if consumed are a danger to human health.  Whales and dolphins (cetaceans) are a vital part of the oceans ecology and life in the ocean.  Therefore they need to be protected; so the hunting and killing of cetaceans must stop.

Global Petition to Governments to Suspend World Trade Deals with Countries that hunt Dolphins or Whales

In 1986 commercial Whaling was banned, despite this Norway, Japan and Iceland has continued to hunt whales, while dolphins are regularly hunted for sport, food and medicine by these and many other countries...

Now in 2023 Norway, Japan and Iceland are starting to increase their whaling capacity by building new whaling vessels and reinstating

decommissioned  whaling infrastructure.

Blue Seas Protection wants the killing of Whales and Dolphins to stop now.

Join Blue Seas Protection's call for action:

“NO TRADE WITH WHALE AND DOLPHIN KILLING COUNTRIES!”

People do not want to trade with countries who kill whales and dolphins, which are known as Cetaceans and are vital for ocean sustainability.

Please Sign our Global Petition and send a message to Governments and countries around the world, that this barbaric practice has got to stop:

Highly Intelligent Octopuses are being Chopped up Alive

Octopuses are highly intelligent creatures, able to feel all pain and emotion  but despite this, they are being chopped up and cooked ALIVE as part of a tradition, it's not a necessary, it's a horrific act by mankind and must be stopped now.

Since 1980 the demand for octopus keeps increasing with global fishing and catching of octopuses has more than doubled since then; so much so that now due to overfishing the amount of octopuses being caught are decreasing.

As of 3rd March 2022 Animal Welfare (Sentience) Bill declared that Octopuses are sentient beings intelligent and able to feel pain,  meaning that Governments have to consider this sentients in future laws to create a high animal welfare standard.

However 1 year later, Octopus is being sold in British supermarkets, Spain still consumes the most octopus in Europe... Throughout Asian countries (i.e Korea, Thailand, Japan) octopus is eaten alive or chopped/ prepared/filleted before being boiled alive.

Octopus meat is tough and rubbery so different ways of 'tenderising' octopus meat is practice from country to country chef to chef... from smashing them on rocks to tumble-drying them before cooking, most tenderising practices involve live octopuses

WHY HAVE WE GOT SUPERTRAWLERS ?

The use of Super Trawlers is fueled by the lies and fraud to the Public that Supertrawler Fishing is substainable and  responsible, clearly it's not! Thousands of dolphins have been killed by them this year.

The problem is the UK. Company the MSC, Marine Stewartship Council who act as a middleman between the Supermarkets and the fishing companies, only large fishing companies can afford to pay for the MSC accreditation branding.

M.S.C. made multi millions last year with selling there branding, there a charity not for profit how can this be?

Accreditation sells fish! People want to buy fish that has been responsibly sourced, So the Supermarkets pay the M.A.C. as well for there branding.

The problem is that it has not been responsibly or substainabily sourced!

Suspend trade agreement with Faroe Islands until all whale & dolphin hunts end

Success!

Closing Date - 21 March 2022

In 2019 UK Government finalised a free trade agreement (FTA) with Faroe Islands which allows for £100 million of exports of wild caught and farmed fish to Britain per annum (20% of the Faroe Islands global trade). This FTA should be suspended until all whale & dolphin hunts on Faroe Islands end

The Free Trade Agreement with the Faroe Islands gives the UK Government significant leverage when it comes to ending the mass slaughter of pilot whales and dolphins on the Faroe Islands which causes huge anger and revulsion around the world. If the UK is to be considered a world leader in the protection of marine mammals it must use this leverage now.
